Nancy of Shrewsbury Rides a 2004 White Fat Boy Loves Any Ice Cream With Lots Of Stuff In It Like Nuts, Chocolate, Caramel, etc. |
| Occupation: | Owner of retail gift store/real estate sales |
| Family: | Husband Jack, two wonderful daughters and two awesome grandsons named Nanook and Balto (a couple of young huskies that get into plenty of trouble). Not the grandkids I had in mind, but for now it will have to do!!! I love them all!! I also come from a family of 5, 4 sisters and a brother who passed away recently. |
| First bike: | My first bike was a 250 Honda and that was back in 1975.My second bike was a 2001 650 V Star Yamaha that I kept for two years. |
| Years riding: | Well, I got my license in 1974 but only rode for a few years, then sold that bike and didn't get the Fat Boy until 2004. |
| How often do you ride: | This year I put on about 8,500 miles. I'd ride more but that little thing like work keeps getting in the way! |
| Who do you ride with: | Mostly my husband Jack. I enjoy riding with him the most because we ride so much together that are driving skills are compatible. |
| Where are some of your favorite routes you’ve ridden: | I don't re-call routes, I'm mostly a follower when it comes to riding with Jack. |
| Funny situation you had that involved your bike: | Well, how about the first week I got my 2003 Yamaha V Star 650. Three times in one week I kept forgetting to put the kickstand down and well, you know what happens when you do that. I'm happy to say that I haven't done that since! |
| What’s the most expensive change or repair you’ve made to your bike: | I don't put any money into my bike for dressing it up, I just enjoy riding the bike like it is, although I would like a chrome front wheel, someday! Well, Jack was just proofing this and he tells me that I have $2,200.00 worth of extras on it. Like I said, I'm just into the riding of the bike. |
| You could buy another bike, what would your next one be and why: | I haven't driven any other bikes so I guess I can't dream about what other bike I'd like. I plan on keeping this one simply because it feels so comfortable. I can go three or four hundred miles in a day and I'm always comfy. |
| What is your favorite Harley event you’ve attended: | Well, we don't attend many rallies, etc. but we do enjoy a lot of the charity rides and we enjoyed the trip to Tennessee this past summer. We also did a trip to Sturgis a few years back as well as Canada with a group from Sheldon's for the Canadian rally. That one was probably one of my favorites' and Sturgis (great riding out there). |
| What are some of your other interests or hobbies: | I don't think there's room to tell you. I enjoy exercising, walking, I teach stained glass classes/glass fusing, jewelry making with sterling silver, I have just learned how to hand-knot pearls on silk, I like to travel without set plans, I love eating out, I sew, bake, and enjoy gardening /outdoors, movies and mostly I enjoy all the little people (7 little ones under 6 yrs. old)in my family. Oh, I also love ballroom dancing! |
| What is your favorite... | |
| Food: | I really don't have favorites when it comes to food. I like trying new foods and I like trying new recipes. |
| Vacation place: | I like beachy areas like the Cape, Newport, Maine, anywhere near the ocean |
| Movie: | On Golden Pond, Shawshank Redemption. |
| Recording artist or band: | I really don't pay too much attention to who sings what so I'm not up on that, however that said, I love the sound of big bands, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, etc. |
| Do you have any pets: | None, I' keep talking about getting a small dog, but none yet. |
| Tell us about a humorous and embarrassing moment (you’re willing to share): | The time Jack and I decided to duck into the woods of a golf course we were on one summer evening, got naked, then stepped on an underground bee hive. needless to say we had to run away from the bees and that meant we had to run out into the fairway. Thank God for us, no one was still around and I didn't get any bee stings, although Jack got a few!!!That was very funny after it was all over, very funny!! |
| Tell us about someone you admire and why: | I admire my sister Dianne who is 2 years older than me. She has had M.S. since she was 30 and for 15 years it was in remission. She's gotten to the point that she spends most of her time in a wheel chair, never complains, and is now doing water colors. I am amazed at her determination and the results she gets from her efforts. She is truly amazing. Things don't impress me, people always do!!! |
